"La Verbena" Painting Study and Fiber Arts Project

For this project, I picked an existing painting to analyze. I chose Maruja Mallo's "La Verbena." I studied the color usage, concentration, and perspective employed in the painting, using abstract painting methods for my analysis. I then created my own piece based on a detail of the original painting: the ferris wheel. After this, I created a related piece in a separate medium-- textile arts. I crocheted a small vest, embroidered with details and symbols seen throughout "La Verbena."
